Fresh Tracks disables the iPhone "auto-lock" feature. This causes the phone display to remain active while recording paths and is required otherwise the GPS will also be shut down when the phone is locked.
We are working on extending battery life but with the solution that we have developed have exposed a bug with the SDK that will require either a fix from Apple. Please be patient while we work on this problem.
Note that with our testing we see about 2 hours or battery life with Fresh Tracks v1.1 running continually. WIth the solution we have developed but as of yet can not release, we see the potential battery life being extended to about 6 hours.

Battery Life Optimization
In v1.2 of Fresh Tracks, we have successfully removed "auto-lock" disabling. The iPhone screen is now allowed to go to sleep (normal operation) and thus conserves a lot of energy.
Battery life, with continuous path recording, has been tested to last in excess of 6 hours which can be further extended by at least another hour by disabling Wifi.
